KNIGHT BOOKKEEPING · SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE

How much does bookkeeping cost in Southern New Hampshire?

A useful bookkeeping quote connects the price to the work your business actually needs. Transaction volume matters, but the condition of the records and the number of accounts matter too.

By Alexander Knight, owner of Knight Bookkeeping

Start with a defined monthly scope

Knight Bookkeeping's monthly service starts at $425 per month for up to 100 transactions and three accounts. A separate onboarding fee starts at $350. These are starting prices, not a promise that every business fits the base package. Ask which accounts, reports, review work, and communication are included in your proposal.

Separate ongoing work from overdue work

Catch-up bookkeeping starts at $500 per project. Cleanup starts at $750 per project. Catch-up addresses unfinished periods; cleanup investigates and corrects records that already exist. A file can need both. QuickBooks Online setup is quoted individually. The number of months alone cannot establish the final project price.

Explain the work behind the transaction count

Two businesses with similar transaction counts can need different support. Additional accounts, payment processors, incomplete statements, unclear transfers, and mixed personal and business activity can increase the work. Accounts payable and accounts receivable support are quoted separately. Specialized construction reporting also needs a separate scope discussion.

Compare proposals on the same basis

Ask about the starting condition assumed in the quote, the monthly transaction allowance, what happens when scope changes, and whether software subscriptions or project work are separate. A low monthly price is difficult to evaluate without those details. Identify the person who will answer questions and the information they will need from you.

What to bring to a first conversation

You can begin with your current bookkeeping system, approximate account and transaction counts, the last completed month, and your main concern. Knight Bookkeeping offers a free 30-minute discovery call. When a proposal requires records, the next step is reviewing three months of statements or appropriate QuickBooks Online access through an agreed secure workflow. You do not need to provide access before the introductory call.
